Dover Castle

Today’s adventure took us to Dover, England—a dreamy coastal escape that was every bit as picturesque as I hoped. We hopped on a private coach from the University of Kent to Dover Castle, and as soon as we arrived, it felt like we had stepped straight into a storybook. I could spend weeks exploring this city! The castle itself was magnificent, with sprawling grounds that seemed to stretch endlessly. Wandering through its ancient halls and seeing carvings from soldiers in 1932 felt like traveling back in time.

The highlight of the castle visit was touring the World War II tunnels. It was incredible to see how these underground spaces were used during such a pivotal time in history. Even though we weren’t allowed to take pictures (much to my dismay), the experience was unforgettable. Walking through the dimly lit tunnels and hearing the stories of bravery and resilience left me in awe.

The White Cliffs of Dover

After the castle, we headed to the White Cliffs of Dover, and wow—pictures don’t do them justice. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect; the sun was shining, the breeze was cool, and the views of the English Channel were absolutely breathtaking. I found a cozy spot to sit with a coffee in one hand and a book in the other, and for a while, it felt like the rest of the world disappeared. It was one of those rare, peaceful moments where everything just felt right.

This day reminded me why I love exploring new places. The history, the beauty, and the little moments of serenity all came together to create a day I’ll never forget. Dover, you were magical—I’ll definitely be back someday.
